In order to stimulate students' interest in learning English, create a good English atmosphere, and provide a stage for students to showcase themselves so that each child can explore their own potential in English learning, and experience the joy of learning and using English in English practice, on the afternoon of 16th May, 2022, the English lesson preparation group of Grade 7 of the Junior High Department of the west campus held an English short play performance competition in the school lecture hall. Under the guidance of teacher Jiang Fan, leader of the lesson preparation group, the English teachers of the lesson preparation group in Grade 7 made full and meticulous preparations in formulating the competition plan, designing the stage background, making costumes and props, arranging the activity flow and arranging the programs. On the other hand, under the guidance of the teachers, the students of each class prepared actively and organized carefully, and finally gave us a wonderful performance.
Specifically, six teams from 12 classes of Grade 7 participated in the show. After grading and selection by the judges, the play ‘Cinderella’ jointly performed by Classes 707 and 708 moved all the audience with the students' fluent spoken English, beautiful dancing and selfless performance, and finally won the first prize of the collective. In addition, the ‘Three Little Pigs’ jointly performed by Classes 709 and 710 and ‘Snow White and Seven Dwarfs’ jointly performed by Classes 711 and 712 impressed the judges and teachers with the exquisite props made by themselves, the students' fluent oral English and vivid performances, and won the collective second prizes respectively. Furthermore, the ‘Hotel Transylvania’ jointly performed by Classes 701 and 702, ‘Harry Potter’ jointly performed by Classes 703 and 704, and ‘Necklace’ jointly performed by Classes 705 and 706, had excellent performances and won the collective third prizes respectively.
To sum up, this activity built a platform for students to challenge themselves and display themselves, which not only stimulated students' enthusiasm and interest in learning English, but also let them experience the joy of learning English.
